I'M BRINGING MODESTY BACK!
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
Flashback to 2006 when a pop song added a new "phrase" and mindset to the masses. This indirect attack on modesty became a refrain that was sung by people of all walks of life and from age groups starting as young as 6 years old and going up to people in their 80s.
As Disciples of Christ, our identity is not rooted in how the world views our attractiveness, rather, our identity is rooted in Christ.
To us, Modesty is asking the internal question, 'If God were to see me like this, would He be pleased with me?'
In Paul's letter to the church in Corinth, he reminds them that they were purchased at a great price.
1 Corinthians 6:18-20
18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
