CONVINCING & CONVICTING
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.
READ:
2 Timothy 3:10-17 (NIV)
10 You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, 11 persecutions, sufferings—what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. 12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
REFLECT:
> Why is Paul telling Timothy about what the Lord has rescued him from?
> What command is Paul giving Timothy in verse 14?
> What is Scripture useful for?
> What is the servant of God supposed to be equipped to do?
> What fact did Paul give Timothy about what to expect when trying to live a Godly life?
RESPOND:
> Paul himself persecuted Christians, so he has an understanding of what both sides of persecution looks like.
> Persecution from evildoers and imposters that deceive while being deceived is nothing new, so be on your guard and stay in the Word.
> Paul tells Timothy to continue in what he has learned in the scripture and has been convinced of.
> The Word of God is used for Teaching, Rebuking, Correcting, and Training in Righteousness.
> The servant of God should use the Word of God to be equipped for every good work.
> Paul told Timothy that everyone that wants to live a Godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
REPENT:
> Evildoers are everywhere so be on your guard and pray for them. REPENT!
> Study the Word of God for yourself. You have no excuses for not knowing the Word of God personally. REPENT!
> Don’t be too Pretentious to be taught, too Arrogant to be rebuked, or too Prideful for correction. Let the Word of God Humble you. REPENT!
> If you are fearful of persecution by the world, it is due to a lack of Faith and Biblical understanding, REPENT! And study the Word of God for yourself.
REJOICE:
> We have the Word of GOD!
> You're using an electronic device that has given you the capability to look intently at the Word of God, and it has been translated from it's original 3 languages to over 2,000 different languages world wide.
> You will recognize false teachers and false ideology when you're studying out the Word of God for yourself.
